The local Care Record Development Board

The Local Care Record Development Board's  mission is to use the latest techniques to improve access for patients to their health care information and to allow sharing of information with their health care professionals

Who are they?

Composed of clinicians, managers and patients from the following organisations:

  • NHS Tameside & Glossop (formerly known as Tameside & Glossop PCT)
  • Tameside NHS Foundation Trust (formerly known as Tameside General Hospital)
  • Tameside Social Services
  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust
  • GoToDoc (the Out of Hours service)

It is chaired by Mike Leigh, vice Chair of the Board of NHS Tameside & Glossop.

What are their objectives?

  • Identify and promote the values and principles which should govern the development and implementation of the NHS Care Record
  • Advise (Tameside & Glossop) PCT Board and Professional Executive Committee on the development of the NHS Care Record
  • Ensure that ethical and policy issues including those concerning security and confidentiality are adequately addressed
  • Represent users of the NHS Care Record including patients, the public and staff in health and social care and reflect their views and interests
  • Enable users of the NHS Care Record to be included and engaged in its development and implementation
Support an inclusive communications strategy that keeps all stakeholder groups engaged in the development of the NHS Care Record
  • Identify the risks and issues arising from the development and implementation of the NHS Care Record and to propose solutions to those risks and issues

How can you contact them?

You can ring the PCT Headquarters on 0161-3045300 and ask to speak to Mike Leigh's secretary or you can contact Colin Cohen on 0161-3514000 or email him on colin.cohen@nhs.net

How can you help or get involved?

We are always keen for patients, clinicians or managers to get involved and strengthen the breadth as well as depth of understanding of issues relating to the local care record. If you would like to join then why don't you contact Mike or Colin for an informal chat. We are always ready to listen and keen to get fresh faces around the table!
